From your vision to your windsurfboard made out of wood! (Part 9)

The next day starts by adding a second layer to the outer rocker lines.

Why make a second layer in this step?

With the second layer we generate a bigger gluing surface for the upper and lower deck plate. The second layer also adds to the overall strength and durability of the deck plate, as it helps distribute weight and stress evenly throughout the structure. This is particularly important in high-traffic areas where heavy loads may be placed on the deck.

Additionally, the second layer can act as a barrier against moisture and other environmental factors that can cause the deck to deteriorate over time. By creating a tight bond between the two layers of the deck plate, we can ensure that it remains firmly in place and is less likely to warp or crack. Finally, the additional layer of glue also helps to improve the overall appearance of the deck, as it creates a smooth, seamless surface that is free from imperfections. Overall, the second layer is an essential part of the deck plate construction process that helps ensure a strong, durable, and attractive final product.

Waiting, waiting, always waiting

And while waiting for the glue to harden it is time to clean up the workspace cause there are plane curls everywhere.

After drying it is all about planing the side rockers to the level of the skeletton.

We are now able to attach the lower part of the board to the frame. The reason for beginning with the bottom section is due to the fact that the rocker table provides a flat surface where you can secure your board. Although it is possible to prepare the rocker table for the top deck too, it would require making it as adaptable as possible, which is not the case for mine.

And again, it is time to wait until the glue is dried!
