The KEENLEY Circle is a fellowship of 12 surfers per year who turn visions into heirlooms.

For our Circle members, it’s a year-long journey of sketches, wood selection, and hand-finishing.

The Circle isn’t for everyone.

But if you’ve read this far, it might be for you.

Our boards‘ uppermost layers are constructed from Paulownia, a remarkably clever timber that we’ve discovered. More information on this exceptional wood can be found at this link. The core is composed of poplar, which is also a lightweight wood, but does not handle moisture particularly well.

What surfaces do we offer and which not?

linseed oil
A wonderful natural resource for very good water protection. Linseed oil beautifully accentuates the grain and designs of the board. Suitable for true lovers who don’t mind a little maintenance. Because depending on the sunlight and the type of water, you should treat your board with oil more often.
Epoxy
A protective layer over part or all of the board is possible. If you would like to know more about our epoxy, you can read a little bit about it in the ecology menu item.
Surface
Brushed, carved or blank for your own ideas. Everything is possible

If you choose the brushed finish, some soft fibers will be brushed out off the surface of the wood. This creates fine grooves in which the water can run off, resulting in a secure footing on the board. This variant must be treated with epoxy at least in the brushed part, otherwise the fibers would flatten too quickly. For the rest of the board you can choose between linseed oil and a complet epoxy cover.

Designs
Your design is hand pyrographed onto your board and a flame breathes life into it. Since it is handmade, there may unfortunately be deviations or inaccuracies in the drawings. Throughout the homepage you will find examples of what is possible. Beneath are just two simple ones.

cork pads
You don’t have to limit yourself to the area of the foot straps. We’ll also cover the whole surface with it for you. You can also choose between cork with a diamond pattern, your own creation or no pattern. But here too, it is a matter of manual work and there may therefore be minor deviations.

fin boxes
The fin box are currently limited to a US and power box. But we are working on all the other options as well
Fiberglass
We do not offer fiberglass surface protection due to company policy. For this purpose we offer a variant without surface treatment. The board is sanded smooth and can be made with your design and finish.
